Your words belong to you.
Privacy policy for markdown on Mac, iPhone and iPad, and this website. Effective and updated 21 September 2026. Developer: Charles Majola.
What the app collects
markdown does not collect or transmit personal information, document contents, identifiers, usage data or location to Charles Majola or an app-operated server. It has no account system, advertising, tracking or analytics. Its bundled editor runs locally and editor usage statistics are disabled. No camera, microphone, contacts or photo-library permissions are requested.
Your documents and chosen services
Documents are processed on your device and saved where you choose. On iPhone and iPad, iCloud Drive or another Files provider may store and sync documents under that provider’s privacy terms and your settings. This is separate from markdown’s collection practices. The app does not operate a cloud storage service.
Sharing only happens when you choose it in the system share sheet. The selected recipient or service receives the copy you share; its own privacy terms then apply. The app does not share user data with advertising networks, analytics services or third-party SDK services.
Images, links and diagnostics
The iOS editor blocks remote images and does not open document links. The Mac editor may load remote images referenced in a document; the image host then receives a normal network request, including network information such as your IP address. Opening an external link uses your browser and the destination’s privacy terms apply.
Apple may handle platform diagnostics according to your device’s analytics and sharing settings. markdown does not include its own crash-reporting or analytics service.
Retention, deletion and your choices
There is no developer-held copy of your documents or app account to delete. Files remain in the location you chose until you delete them. Use Files on iPhone or iPad, or Finder on Mac, to delete documents; manage Recently Deleted, cloud copies and backups with the relevant provider. Uninstalling markdown does not necessarily delete documents stored elsewhere.
To stop cloud synchronization, change the chosen provider’s settings. To stop sending copies, do not use Share; contact the recipient or service about copies already shared. No consent to app analytics or tracking is requested because those features are absent.
This website and support
This static website has no account system, advertising, analytics scripts or application cookies. Hosting infrastructure processes ordinary request information, such as IP address and request path, to deliver pages and maintain security and reliability. This website does not upload your Markdown documents.
If you email support, your address and the information you choose to send are used to respond and resolve the request. Support correspondence is retained while needed to handle the request and related follow-up; you can request deletion by email. Necessary records may be retained where required by law or for security. Do not send private documents or credentials.
GitHub issues are public and handled under GitHub’s privacy statement. Use email for a private support or deletion request. Hosting logs are managed by the hosting infrastructure for operational and security needs; email the developer to request information about or deletion of identifiable website records. Some records may need to be retained for security or legal obligations.
